2018 Grant Recipient Publication Announced

Illinois Native Plant Society grant recipients are encouraged to submit their grant-awarded research to scientific peer reviewed publications. We are pleased to announce that 2018 recipient Emily Dangremond, Assistant Professor at Roosevelt University and current President of INPS, will publish her research on Starflower (Trientalis borealis) in Plant Ecology.

Illinois Native Plant Society 2022 Grants Announced

Students, citizen scientists, and conservation groups are invited to consider applying for an INPS Research Grant for up to $2500 to fund one-year projects. The grant is for research-focused studies on Illinois native plants

2021 Annual Gathering (Virtual)

During the week of September 11-18, 2021, INPS held its first virtual Annual Gathering. There were a mix of virtual and “real life” activities during the week.

2021 INPS Research Grants and Survey Grants Announced!

The Illinois Native Plant Society is excited to announce its 2021 roster of Research and Survey Grant recipients. An interesting variety of projects from different parts of the State will conduct research on Illinois native plants in the field or the lab, or will implement field surveys of very rare listed species to provide data to the Illinois Natural Heritage Database.

Proposed changes to the Illinois Endangered and Threatened Plant Species List

Every five years, the Illinois Endangered Species Protection Board’s (IESPB) Illinois Endangered Species Technical Advisory Committee (ESTAC) meets to discuss potential changes to the status of Illinois plants and makes recommendations for state listing, delisting, or status changes.
