This information is being provided as a service to Illinois Native Plant Society members and the general public. Some of these sales may contain non-native species or cultivars. We encourage people to purchase plants native to Illinois.

This listing of native plant sales is just one of many activities of the INPS in support of its mission of “the study, appreciation, and conservation of the native flora and natural communities of Illinois”. If you would like to help INPS with this mission, consider joining INPS or by making a donation. Thank you.

The COVID-19 pandemic is having an impact on this year’s native plant sales. Some have cancelled, some are postponed, and others have gone to online only sales. Some sales, scheduled for later in the year may still be planning to go ahead. This may change as conditions warrant. Even if a sale is cancelled, the organization may be providing additional ways to get native plants, so even with cancelled sales, click on the name to see any additional information. The status of each sale is shown in the first column.

Additional Information

Want to create habitat at home? Join us on Saturday, May 9th at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Commodities Pavilion for the area's largest native plant sale! A great diversity of native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants will be offered. Multiple milkweed species will be offered as well as a great selection of plants for pollinators and wildlife. The plants are grown from local seed sources whenever available by chapter members and local nurseries

The species list will be posted online about a month from the sale date at In the meantime, the 2019 list is still posted to give an idea of the diversity offered. This year’s selection will be similar, with a few additions and deletions based on past popularity and availability. If this is your first time attending, plan on arriving early. Quantities are limited and many popular species sell out quickly!

Proceeds from the sale support the chapter's grant program. Grants fund a variety of native plant projects completed by local organizations, schools, graduate students, and more. To find out how your project can benefit from an INPS grant, see
